Typography

To maintain a strong visual link to Lantmännen, we use their typeface family – consisting of both LM Sans and LM Serif. This combination provides flexibility and ensures a cohesive typographic expression across formats and channels.

Primary typography

LM Serif, used in Light, Regular, and Medium weights, is the primary typeface in our identity. It is applied in headlines, introductions, and body text. With its elegant and balanced character, the serif creates a deliberate contrast to the organic shapes of the logotype, adding depth and sophistication to the visual identity.

Secondary typeface

LM Sans forms the foundation of the logotype, but it also plays an
important supporting role in contexts that demand high legibility at small sizes – such as tables, charts, and short fact-based highlights.
The sans version adds a sense of modernity, clarity, and structure to the identity. It performs especially well in functional settings where information needs to be quickly and easily read.

When using short phrases – and when the layout allows – we apply
uppercase text with tracking set to +25. This approach adds visual
presence and rhythm, creating a sense of emphasis and structure within the composition.
Uppercase styling should be used selectively and with purpose, ensuring it complements the overall tone and hierarchy of the design.

Typeface hierarchy 16:9

To create clarity and structure in presentations – especially in 16:9
format – we work with five defined typographic levels. These levels
establish a consistent visual rhythm and help the viewer navigate the content with ease.

Display heading

Used at the start of new chapters or sections. Always centered on the slide, it serves as a bold graphic entry point.

Main heading

Introduces the primary content on a slide. Left-aligned and clear, it
provides a strong entry into the topic.

Subheading

Placed beneath the main heading or above specific content sections. It supports grouping and segmentation in longer presentations.

Body text

Used for all continuous text.

Chart and table text

In tables, diagrams, and data visualizations, LM Sans is used to ensure legibility at small sizes. This typeface is functional and neutral, and should not compete visually with the rest of the content.

Typography | Italic

In some headings, selected words or phrases are italicized. This is a deliberate design choice used to introduce variation in the visual expression while also emphasizing specific parts of the message.
Italics act as a form of visual emphasis – guiding the reader’s attention or adding a subtle tonal shift.

Use italicization sparingly and always with clear intent. It should never replace the core function of a heading: to be clear, navigational, and direct.
